"Granny Polly's Cottage, Godolphin"

Set in glorious countryside under ten minutes from a great local surf beach, Granny Polly’s Cottage is a lovely refurbished, two-bedroom holiday home full of character.

Driving up the pretty lane your shoulders will drop as you arrive at this super cottage which has been lovingly refurbished by the owner to provide a really comfortable home from home set in an idyllic location from where to enjoy your Cornish break.

From the characterful living room with its stunning original fireplace to the large luxurious bedrooms overlooking the private enclosed gardens you’re sure to love this cottage. Whether curling up in front of a roaring fire or cooking up a feast in the well-equipped kitchen Granny Polly’s cottage ticks so many boxes for the perfect holiday in Cornwall.

The stunning shower room has expansive views across the countryside, the fully equipped utility room is perfect for wiping down muddy paws and with private parking right outside it's only a hop, skip and a jump to get to a selection of fabulous local beaches. Your four-legged friend will get a warm welcome here and they will be in heaven surrounded by fantastic walks from the doorstep and the year-round dog friendly beach at Long Rock is a short drive away where they are sure to make new friends.

If you’re looking for privacy and comfort in a peaceful location close to beaches and all West Cornwall has to offer, then you may well have found your perfect holiday home…

Granny Polly’s is outside Godolphin Cross, a small village which is part of the Godolphin Estate. The area is a World Heritage Site due to its history of mining for tin, copper and china clay as well as its outstanding beauty. Quiet and idyllic countryside, Granny Polly's Cottage is only a ten-minute drive to the nearest beach at Praa Sands. A little further on is Marazion with its fabulous beach overlooking the famous St Michaels Mount and a bit further west is Penzance. Travelling east, Porthleven is a few miles away and fast becoming a go-to destination with an attractive harbour and many great restaurants. Try Amelie’s on the harbour as they do a great Sunday lunch with live Jazz and it’s one of my favourites.

Praa Sands, with a mile of golden sand, offers great surfing and a laid-back beach bar from where you can watch the surfers as the sun comes down. Further west and only a short drive away are St Ives, Mousehole and Sennen, all in easy reach.

For walkers there is plenty on your doorstep and you are surrounded by stunning countryside. A trip up Tregonning Hill is a must from where you get an amazing 360-degree vista across the fields to the coast with Mousehole, Penzance and St Michael's Mount in the distance, or walk the other way up to Godolphin Hill and around National Trust fields and onto the Godolphin Estate.

Walking in through the utility room and lobby, (a perfect spot for changing muddy boots) you enter the large open plan living and dining room which overlooks the garden. It’s a lovely room to relax in with a comfy three-seater sofa and a rocking chair. Perfect for cosy evenings in, the open fire is a real feature of this lovely room. For entertainment, there is a large flat screen TV with Freeview and a DVD player. The other end of the living room is the dining area with seating for four overlooking the private garden.

The dining area has comfortable seating for four with an extendable table and chairs. The stunning kitchen off the lobby overlooks the entrance and has everything you need to cook up a feast and more. There is an electric oven together with a ceramic hob, fridge with a freezer compartment, microwave oven and dishwasher.

The bedrooms overlook the pretty gardens and are both spacious with pocket sprung mattresses, wardrobes and each with a chest of drawers and bedside tables. One has a king size bed and the other a super king size bed which can be split into two large singles, just let us know.

The luxury shower room offers far reaching views and has a large walk-in shower, perfect for after a day’s activities. Towels and bedding are provided for you, just remember to bring your own beach towels.

At the rear of the cottage is a fully enclosed private garden which can be accessed by a side gate, or from the living room. The pretty lawned area is a good size with a patio area for al-fresco meals and in spring you will see a profusion of flowers and plants as they come into bloom.

Entering through the front door you come into a fitted utility room housing a dishwasher and washing machine as well as having plenty of space for coats and boots.

useful to know...

PARKING: There's room to park one to two cars but do drive carefully up the lane especially if you have a low-slung car. You enter to the large gravelled driveway shared with Tregonning Cottage and have a private space to park directly outside Granny Polly’s Cottage.

WI-FI: There is free Wi-Fi at Granny Polly’s. As always this far West distances to the exchange and weather can slow things up and it can occasionally go down. There is reasonable 3/4G on most networks for checking emails if this happens.

HEATING: There is central heating and an open fire to cosy up with in the living area.

PETS: Far West Cornwall is doggie heaven! There’s plenty of beaches and coast paths for exploring. Two well-behaved dogs are welcome at £35 each per week/short break. Please make sure they stay out of bedrooms and off the furniture and that you rub down muddy/sandy feet before they come in. Please keep pet’s downstairs (stair gate provided) and note that the painted stairs can be slippery. Dogs must not be left alone in the property.

LINEN & TOWELS: You'll have bedding & towels but please bring your own beach towels.

ACCESSIBILITY: Granny Polly’s allows you to park right outside and both bedrooms are on the first floor with steep, painted stairs up so it is not suitable for those with limited mobility but always check with us first. Part of the bathroom ceiling is sloped so tall people should take care.

This property is not wheelchair friendly and may not be suitable for those with limited mobility. If this applies, please contact our booking office to discuss the properties potential suitability prior to confirming.

CHANGEOVER DAY: Granny Polly's usually changes on a Friday. Do check with us if your dates don't quite fit as we will always try to help.

"Our stay at Granny Polly's cottage was fantastic! The cottage was lovely and in a superb location, the beds were incredibly comfy (my friend normally never sleeps well at all but had the best few nights' sleep in years!), everything was so tasteful and clean and Sarah was really welcoming and friendly. We were lucky with the weather and managed to do a number of things including trying out the lido in Penzance. Highly recommended!"
