"Wonderful retreat - I didn't want to leave

★ ★ ★ ★ ★

We absolutely loved our time in the Woodcutter's Cabin. It was cosy and well-equipped. Bread, milk, jam, butter and other items were left for us at arrival. The huge gardens are beautiful and there are some ponds. There's also a viewing position from where you can see the sea. The bed is comfortable and the wood-burner is very effective. There are rabbits, squirrels, birds of prey and, at night, bats to watch. My favourite moment was listening to the birds and looking up at the silhouette of the trees as the sun went down whilst lying in the hot tub. We didn't see another person whilst we were there - this is a great retreat if you need some time away from everyday stresses for a while. I didn't want to leave.

This is a great place for some solitude, comfort and peace and also to disconnect devices and reconnect with the natural world and natural cycles."

“What a beautiful little cabin close to Penzance. Communication was fast and easy, the description on how to get to the cottage was on the spot. The cabin itself is perfect for 2 people, the garden was absolutely stunning. If you are looking for peace and quiet, it´s perfect. Highly recommended! Thanks Sebastian!”

WHERE IT IS

The Woodcutters Cabin

Experience country living at its very best from this luxury, dog friendly holiday home in Cornwall located between St Ives and Penzance with the numerous beaches and villages of west Cornwall all in easy reach.

The Woodcutters cabin offers luxury open plan accommodation with all creature comforts taken care of and a stunning private veranda overlooking 3 acres of beautiful private gardens. There is even a unique outside bath where you can soak away overlooking the enchanting gardens or at night looking up at the star-filled skies.

Painstakingly built by local craftsmen using wood from trees in the grounds, from my first visit I completely fell in love with the Woodcutter’s Cabin. This truly unique property has a spacious open plan interior that is entirely bespoke, with its gorgeous handmade kitchen and a stunning driftwood bed to curl up in after a day exploring this magical part of West Cornwall. The sitting room has a great wood burning stove to keep you toasty and French doors lead out to the decked terrace overlooking your own little paradise.

Outside in the gardens, there are numerous areas to enjoy, including a sitting area where you get glimpses of the sea in the distance. There is even a fire pit where you can warm up enjoying the amazing night skies under a blanket of stars. It’s a nature lover’s paradise awash with wildlife, including visiting badgers and foxes and resident shrews, rabbits, frogs, buzzards and owls. The gardens really are a delight and if you’re bringing your four-legged friend they  will be in doggie heaven (Pets allowed anytime outside July and August). There are almost three acres shared only with Martin and Caroline, the lovely owners of neighbouring Primrose Cottage. Treat all the grounds as your own although there is a near acre directly outside the cabin that is private to you.

If it’s seclusion away from the everyday hectic world you’re looking for then you may well have found your perfect holiday…

Location

The Boskednan area of New Mill is a collection of beautiful cottages, all private from one another, nestling in the hidden shelter of a stream-fed valley where gunnera (the fairy tale giant rhubarb like plant) reaches up, casting its gentle green tinge to all below it. Although you will feel lost in idyllic countryside it is only a ten minute drive to Penzance or Marazion with its fabulous beach overlooking the famous St Michaels Mount. The Woodcutters Cabin is pretty much equidistant from the north and south coasts. While it's inland you could easily walk the 4kms to the north coast, and you can see the south coast between the trees.

Living

The cosy living area is centred on the large wood burner and its a wonderful place to relax in with a large comfy sofa and armchair. There is a 40inch flatscreen TV that includes the full Sky TV sports and movies package.

Cooking and Eating

The hand built wood and slate kitchen has everything you need to cook up a feast together with a Bosch electric oven and induction hob, dishwasher, fridge freezer and washing machine. There are a table and chairs perfectly positioned to enjoy your meals looking out of the French doors into the gardens.

Sleeping

The bedroom area has a majestic driftwood king size bed with a super comfy John Lewis mattress. There is a chest of drawers and a small handmade wardrobe.

Bathing

The luxury shower room has underfloor heating, a heated towel rail and of course there is the outside bath with endless piping hot water. Just be careful walking back into the cabin with wet feet. Towels and bedding will be supplied for you, just remember to bring your beach towels.

Essentials

GARDENS: The term garden hardly does justice to the extensive outside space at the Woodcutter’s Cabin with peace and quiet guaranteed. Directly outside the cabin is almost an acre for your private use which includes a sitting area with a fire pit and at the far corner a spot where you can view the sea in the distance. The outside terrace has two steamer sun loungers and a bistro table and chairs for lazy breakfasts. If you’re a nature lover the grounds are filled with many rare specimen plants and shrubs and they are surrounded by wild countryside with breathtaking walks in every direction.
PETS: Dogs are allowed anytime outside July and August. This is a dog's paradise. You're a long way from main roads, and the footpaths and tracks head off to the moors from right outside the cottage, and for the more adventurous walker - on up to the coast. One or two dogs are welcome at £25 each per stay. Please make sure they stay off the furniture and that you rub down muddy feet before they come in.
PARKING: There's plenty of room to park but you won't get a low-slung sports car up the track and must drive with caution in bad weather.
WI-FI: We're at the edges of BT's empire here and while there is wi-fi, it is slow and often drops out. It's OK for browsing and email, but won't support video and audio streaming. Make sure you download your playlists before you set off so that you can enjoy them over the Sony Bluetooth speaker in the Cabin.
ACCESSIBILITY: The Woodcutters Cabin is not suitable for children or those with limited mobility due to the remote location and numerous steps and paths. It is fine for a baby although do call us first to make sure it’s suitable for you.
