"The Woodcutters Cabin, Penzance"

Experience country living at its very best from this luxurious, dog friendly holiday home in Cornwall located between St Ives and Penzance with the numerous beaches and villages of west Cornwall all in easy reach. The Woodcutters Cabin offers luxury open plan accommodation with all creature comforts taken care of and a stunning private veranda overlooking 3 acres of beautiful private gardens. There is even a unique outside bath where you can soak away overlooking the enchanting gardens or at night looking up at the star-filled skies.

Painstakingly built by local craftsmen using wood from trees in the grounds, from my first visit I completely fell in love with the Woodcutter’s Cabin. This truly unique property has a spacious open plan interior that is entirely bespoke, with its gorgeous handmade kitchen and a stunning driftwood bed to curl up in after a day exploring this magical part of West Cornwall. The living room has a great wood burning stove to keep you toasty and French doors lead out to the decked terrace overlooking your own little paradise.

Outside in the gardens, there are numerous areas to enjoy, including a sitting area where you get glimpses of the sea in the distance. There is even a fire pit where you can warm up enjoying the amazing night skies under a blanket of stars. It’s a nature lover’s paradise awash with wildlife, including visiting badgers and foxes and resident shrews, rabbits, frogs, buzzards and owls. The gardens really are a delight and if you’re bringing your four-legged friend they will be in doggie heaven (pets allowed anytime outside July and August). There are almost three acres shared only with Martin and Caroline, the lovely owners of neighbouring Primrose Cottage. Treat all the grounds as your own although there is a near acre directly outside the cabin that is private to you.

If it’s seclusion away from the everyday hectic world you’re looking for then you may well have found your perfect holiday…

The Boskednan area of New Mill is a collection of beautiful cottages, all private from one another, nestling in the hidden shelter of a stream-fed valley where gunnera (the fairy tale giant rhubarb like plant) reaches up, casting its gentle green tinge to all below it. Although you will feel lost in idyllic countryside it is only a ten-minute drive to Penzance or Marazion with its fabulous beach overlooking the famous St Michaels Mount. The Woodcutters Cabin is pretty much equidistant from the north and south coasts. While it's inland you could easily walk the 4kms to the north coast, and you can see the south coast between the trees.

The cosy living area is centred on the large wood burner and it's a wonderful place to relax in with a large comfy sofa and armchair. There is a 40-inch flat screen TV. It's internet ready with Freesat and access to Netflix and iPlayer.

Cooking & Eating

The hand-built wood and slate kitchen has everything you need to cook up a feast together with a Bosch electric oven and induction hob, dishwasher, fridge/freezer and washing machine. There are a table and chairs perfectly positioned to enjoy your meals looking out of the French doors into the gardens.

The bedroom area has a majestic driftwood king size bed with a super comfy John Lewis mattress. There is a chest of drawers and a small handmade wardrobe.

The luxury shower room has underfloor heating, a heated towel rail and of course there is the outside bath with endless piping hot water. Just be careful walking back into the cabin with wet feet. Towels and bedding will be supplied for you, just remember to bring your beach towels.

The term garden hardly does justice to the extensive outside space at the Woodcutter’s Cabin with peace and quiet guaranteed. Directly outside the cabin is almost an acre for your private use which includes a sitting area with a fire pit and at the far corner a spot where you can view the sea in the distance. The outside terrace has two steamer sun loungers and a bistro table and chairs for lazy breakfasts. If you’re a nature lover the grounds are filled with many rare specimen plants and shrubs and they are surrounded by wild countryside with breathtaking walks in every direction.

Far West Cornwall is doggie heaven! There’s plenty of beaches and coast paths for exploring. Two well-behaved dogs are welcome at £35 each per week/short break. what guests are saying...

“Lovely, lovely stay. A perfect hideaway, which was very relaxing and had everything we needed, the only thing missing was a starlit sky when in the bath, but it was still great to sit in a hot bath in the dark surrounded by trees! The wood burner is epic, the garden beautifully informal, and the kitchen had all the pans and utensils we needed to cook our own meals. A highly recommended bolthole from everyday life.”

"Absolutely lovely cabin in lovely grounds, away from the road (tiny single track road). Peace, quiet and tranquility. Cabin was well furnished with the mod cons you need. Wood burner works like a furnace - one log at a time recommended! Loved the farmer’s 15 or so dogs chasing each other through the grounds and we’d love to know what animal was snuffling around under the cabin at night. All adds to the beautiful rural charm of the place. We also used the outdoor bath both in the daytime and at night. Bread, milk, butter, jam & biscuits provided to get you going. Located so very close to Penzance and really no time at all to Land’s End, Mousehole, St Ives, St Michael’s Mount and The Lizard. Stay here, you wont regret it (unless you don’t like daddy long legs)!"

"Woodcutter’s Cabin is a truly perfect mix of luxury, complete privacy and mesmerising rustic charm. Everything was immaculate when we arrived...The landscaped gardens are stunning with an impressive variety of plants and flowers, and so many birds!! The BBQ and fire pit area was a perfect place to feast on locally bought fish and seafood in the evening sun, and it is a place of rare peace and tranquility. The countryside is breathtaking and the beaches better then most we have visited abroad. We will be back…"

"We stayed at the Woodcutter's Cabin for our honeymoon and are so glad we did, it was wonderful! The cabin was perfect for 2 and had everything you could need. You can tell the cabin has been lovingly crafted by hand as there's so many beautiful and quirky features to it. The outdoor bath is really special, especially at sunset with a glass of fizz! Highly recommend."
