MANOR FARM, ESCALLS

This wonderfully laid-back farmhouse has been refurbished with effortless style and is set in a small hamlet, moments from some of the most stunning scenery in West Cornwall. Offering a great escape for couples or larger families Manor Farm is all about kicking back and taking life easy.

This generous detached farmhouse sits back from the headland between Sennen Cove and Gwenver beach in the rural hamlet of Escalls. It's under ten minutes’ walk to the dog friendly surf beach at Gwenver, or a slightly longer walk or short drive to the popular Sennen Cove. From the art on the walls to the linen on the beds, Manor Farm is a truly fantastic place to enjoy all the hidden gems and beauties that Far West Cornwall has to offer.

LOCATION

Escalls is a small hamlet ideally located between Sennen Cove and Gwenver beaches. Swim, surf, walk the coast, or simply find a sheltered spot to sit and contemplate the beauty - you'll be spoilt for choice here. You're only a few miles from Land's End, and it's certainly worth walking there to see the dramatic cliffs and remains of ancient civilisations.

The famous pubs The Old Success and The First and Last are both less than half an hour's walk (or a couple of minutes in the car), as are the cafés in the cove.

Many of our guests have been coming back to the immediate area for decades, and as we never tire of it, we can understand why.

LIVING

On arrival you walk into a bespoke fitted boot room. This practical and charming entrance is ideal for offloading walking boots and coats.  Going through a door, leads you into the beautiful glass ceilinged Garden Room, one of three large reception rooms downstairs at Manor Farm. The Garden Room's bifold doors open up onto a pretty walled courtyard patio, making the most of any weather conditions. It provides a place to sit in the sun on those windy days and views of dramatic scenery when it rains. The Garden Room leads into a cosy living room with big comfy sofas and a wood burner, ready to relax and enjoy after a long blustery walk. From the living room there are pocket doors which reveal a study with more sofas and a desk area, ready to catch the evening sun and/or plan the next day’s events or work from your holiday if it calls.

COOKING & EATING

New kitchen for February 2023.

The kitchen has been renovated and updated to make the farmhouse kitchen even more special than it was before!

You'll often hear the term "farmhouse kitchen" - well, here it's for real. Leading off the living room the kitchen is centred around a large Loaf farm table that seats up to 8. There is a love seat sofa, a Range cooker with modern induction hob, fridge / freezer, washing machine and a dishwasher too. There's even another wood burning stove. This is the true hub of the home.

SLEEPING

At The Cornish Way we're out in the fresh air as often as we can be, and perhaps that's why we so love a great night's sleep. All the wonderful beds were chosen to offer a great sleep.

MASTER BEDROOM: Has a king size bed (and an en suite with roll top bath).

SECOND & THIRD BEDROOMS: Both have zip and link beds that transform from twin beds into super kings for the ultimate couples' luxurious sleeping space.

Every bedroom has an engaging view, one looks over the countryside and the other two over stripes of fields towards the ocean.

BATHING

The master bedroom has an en suite with roll top bath, and a picture window with views across the countryside. The family bathroom has a large walk-in shower that will simply drench you after a long hot sunny walk. There is also an original cast-iron free-standing claw foot bath, perfect for a soak after a day in the sea. Downstairs you will find another large stylish shower room and toilet off the boot room, so you can jump straight in on returning from the beach.

OUTSIDE

The garden is enclosed and surrounds the house, with an area of flat lawn. Perfect for letting children and the dog play. It is bordered by Cornish ‘hedges’ (beautiful granite walls softened with pretty planting). There’s a decking area with a table and seating for at least 8 people. From here there are sea glimpses making it perfect for a barbeque or simply enjoying the sunset with a glass of wine.

What would have originally been the front of the farmhouse is now a large courtyard shared with The Piggery opposite. See details below to book The Piggery alongside Manor Farm to increase your stay for 8 people.

UTILITY

There is a butler sink and washing machine with plenty of space for washing, airing and drying any clothes needed for the following day’s activities.

WHAT GUESTS ARE SAYING...

“Manor Farm is ideal for a family gathering. It's a lovely, comfortable, warm house with great facilities, particularly the utility area when you come back from a muddy/sandy walk with a dog. Everything you might need has been considered. The house is managed by The Cornish Way holiday cottage company and communication was great.”

Julie – December 2023

"We have had a wonderful stay enjoying Manor Farm and loving Sennen beach!"

Heather & family - August 2023

"We have had a fantastic stay at Manor Farm! We've enjoyed walks, snorkelling at Nanjizal, pasties in St Ives, surfing in Sennen and snoozing on the beach at Gwenver. Manor Farm is a beautiful house in a brilliant location and makes you feel like you are stepping back in time to a simpler way of life. Thank you for a lovely stay and hopefully we will be back soon."

Mark & family - July 2023

"The most enjoyable holiday I've ever had, not something I thought I would be saying about a week in Cornwall in February. However the combination of a stunning farmhouse and the relaxed out of season pace of life (which made us feel we had the beautiful beaches, coves and walks to ourselves) made for a fantastic week. In fact the cooler spring temperatures meant we probably did more than we would have done in the height of summer. I almost started to wish it would rain so we could spend a lazy day with a book in front of the wood burner!"

David - March 2023

"A lovely stay at Manor Farm. The weather was kind and we went in the sea twice. Easy walks to Sennen Cove & Gwenver. Nice cosy evenings in front of the fire. A trip to Newlyn for fresh scallops and lobster - a real treat!"
