WHEAL ROSE, MORVAH

Set in the peaceful hamlet of Morvah, Wheal Rose Cottage is a stylish coastal cottage designed for relaxed escapes in West Cornwall. Sleeping up to eight guests, this dog-friendly retreat combines sea views, nearby beaches, and access to some of Cornwall’s most breath-taking coastal scenery — perfect for family getaways, beach days, and coastal walking holidays.

Tucked away in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Wheal Rose rests peacefully along a quiet country lane, just a gentle 15-minute stroll from the enchanting sands of Portheras Cove. One of Cornwall’s last truly unspoilt local beaches, this hidden cove is beloved for its golden sand, rugged cliffs and wonderfully wild atmosphere. Keep an eye on the shoreline and bobbing waves — seals are frequent visitors here — and four-legged companions are welcome too, making it perfect for long, salty-haired walks with the dog in tow.

LOCATION

Head east and discover one of the country’s most dramatic and untouched stretches of coastline, winding towards Zennor and the artistic haven of St Ives, with sweeping sea views, heather-covered cliffs and hidden coves along the way. Turn west and the landscape becomes steeped in Cornwall’s rich mining heritage, leading you through atmospheric engine house scenery towards St Just, Sennen and the iconic beauty of Land’s End.

LIVING

Wheal Rose Cottage blends relaxed coastal elegance with thoughtful design and quiet luxury. The spacious sitting room centres around a crackling wood burner, with deep, inviting sofas made for slow evenings after days spent exploring the coastline. A cosy snug area has a TV with firestick creates an additional retreat for reading, films or quiet conversation, while one of the cottage’s two separate staircases rises from the living space, adding to its character and gentle sense of flow.

COOKING & EATING

At the heart of the home, the light-filled kitchen and dining space is designed for gathering. Fully equipped for long, leisurely meals, with a rangemaster oven and an induction hob the stone floor has under floor heating and the large dining table easily seats nine. At breakfast, lunch and dinner you have stunning views across the ancient walled fields to the Atlantic and the lighthouse at Pendeen and you may also see cattle grazing in the fields. A second staircase leads from the kitchen, creating a charming and slightly unexpected layout that gives the cottage both practicality and a wonderfully unique personality

SLEEPING

Each bedroom has been individually styled to create a sense of warmth, calm and understated luxury. The master has a king-size bed and spectacular views on two sides. Bedroom two can be accessed by either staircase and has a king-size bed. This beamed bedroom has views from the three cottage windows. The second staircase also leads to a double bedroom (with a double bed)  with views across the fields. Next door has a small bedroom which is perfect for our younger guests with a bunk bed and single bed which also has a view across farmland.

BATHING

On the first floor, two separate family bathrooms offer both comfort and convenience, each complete with a bath (with shower over) WC and basin. Thoughtfully positioned near the staircases and adjoining bedrooms, the layout creates a natural sense of privacy and balance, making the cottage especially well-suited for families and groups of friends staying together.

OUTSIDE

Outside, the enclosed garden enjoys uninterrupted views across the Atlantic Ocean and surrounding countryside — a peaceful place to linger over morning coffee, gather together for relaxed evenings around the Weber BBQ, or simply sit back and watch the ever-changing Cornish skies unfold above the coastline.
