"Hendra cottage, Sennen"
In the most extraordinary location set high above the coast close to the stunning Sennen Cove sits the beautiful Hendra Cottage. Enjoy the breathtaking views towards Cape Cornwall, Land’s End and Longships Lighthouse from the luxury of one of the most spectacular homes on this dramatic stretch of coast. This is the ultimate property for that extra special family getaway or memorable group holiday.
Inside this exceptional holiday home is a beautiful, architecturally styled interior with expansive views of the Atlantic from almost every room. This is a truly special space, cleverly designed to combine superior interior standards against an ever-changing coastal backdrop. At Hendra Cottage you’ll enjoy an abundance of space and light, the whole property encapsulates luxurious relaxation blending effortless style with comfort.
Get everyone together in the expansive living room or unwind in the snug room. Enjoy the Cornish summer from the gorgeous gardens, or take in the views from the luxury of the outdoor wood fired hot tub. And after a day of surfing and exploring head to one of the luxurious bedrooms and drift off to sleep to the sound of the distant sea.
This area is in so many ways untouched by modern life and the far west is much loved for its untamed raw beauty. Hendra Cottage takes in so much of what this magical place has to offer. From the crashing waves of the Atlantic, the dramatic cliffs, stretches of golden sand and some of the best surfing in Cornwall, it’s all in easy reach from this gorgeous property.
Hendra is a small hamlet set high above the coast path between Sennen and Cape Cornwall and this hidden part of the Far West of Cornwall is an area just waiting to be explored. From the myth and legend of Land's End, the golden sands of Sennen and Gwenver beaches and their popular surf breaks you're spoilt for choice. The idyllic fishing coves of Mousehole, Zennor and Lamorna are all close by and Porthcurno, Gwenver, Marazion and Praa Sands are all a short drive away and offer some of the finest swimming waters in the county. The South West coast path can be accessed in a short walk from the house. If you’re feeling energetic you can even walk all the way to Sennen which is also only a short drive away.
Venturing further the local town of St Just is under ten minutes away and feels lost in time. It’s an attractive town and a UNESCO world heritage site due to its rich mining history. There are various independent shops, four pubs, butchers, a deli and a Co-Op supermarket. Further afield the popular towns of Penzance, St Ives and Mousehole are all easily accessible as well as numerous beaches and coves dotted around West Cornwall.
Not many places have the wow factor like this one does. With the help of local designer Camilla Interiors every element has been thoughtfully dressed, with perfectly complementing elements. From the carefully selected palette of hues to the contrasting deep blues and warming mustard yellows, this property oozes luxury from within.
The living room is the heart of the home. With three large sumptuous sofas and a wood burning stove to keep you toasty on cooler evenings, it is the perfect spot for evenings in with a book or cuddled up watching a film on the wall mounted TV. The separate snug room is a great pad for children and adults alike to escape the hubbub of holiday life, to watch a film on the Blu-Ray DVD player, or play games. On sunny days, the living room creates a great shady escape with sliding doors opening onto the decked terrace. Where better to kick back and take in one of the most breathtaking views across the Atlantic.
cooking & eating
The kitchen and dining spaces are fit for celebrations. The kitchen is fully equipped with all mod cons and retains a country kitchen style through the bespoke tiling and soft sage cabinets. There are five gas hobs as well as a wok hob, wine fridge, double sink and double electric oven, plus much more. The light from the large windows coming in is the perfect place to relax and cook up that feast there isn’t time for at home. (On that note – if you’d like a special event catered for do ask, we have some superb contacts). The chunky wooden dining table has been a component of Hendra Cottage for over 35 years. Comfortably seating 10, the table has been thoughtfully situated to take in views over a social dinner party. Or, enjoy waking up to a breakfast at the kitchen coffee table with sumptuous arm chairs looking out to the sea.
The boutique style bedrooms have each been individually styled and furnished to the highest of standards. There are four bedrooms on the first floor and a single bedroom on the ground floor.
The Master bedroom has a gorgeous king bed with incredible coastal views and en suite shower.
The second bedroom has a luxurious double bed.
The third and fourth bedrooms are both zip link beds which can be made up as sumptuous king size beds or roomy twins. You decide.
The fifth bedroom on the ground floor has a small 4 ft. double bed perfect for single occupancy with an en suite shower (please note storage for this room is within the under stairs cupboard).
The contemporary, bright bathrooms are the perfect place to unwind after a day at the beach or walking the coast. The family bathroom on the first floor has an incredible oval bath, hand-held shower, heated towel rail, toilet and hand wash basin.
The master bedroom and downstairs bedroom both have lovely en suites with walk in showers.
There is also a wet room downstairs with an amazing walk-in shower.
The outdoor shower is perfect for washing off the sand or rinsing out wetsuits.
Slide back the doors from the living space to reveal the gorgeous lawned gardens and beyond towards the coast and the South West Coast path. An extensive garden which offers plenty of space for children and dogs to play, soaking up the sunshine, or planning the week ahead. Enjoy lazy summer days from the outdoor terrace and unique 6-person wood fired hot tub, the perfect way to soak up the views and immerse yourself in the Cornish elements.
A utility room off the kitchen has everything needed to make this feel like a home from home, including: washing machine, tumble dryer and iron with ironing board.

"Hendra Cottage was heavenly with views to die for in a spectacular part of Cornwall. We loved walking to the coastal path, visiting the incredible beaches and mostly just hanging around the house watching the sunset each night. Cornish Way were awesome providing us with local area guides and lovely little touches upon our arrival. We will be back and were sorry that we were only there for a week."
Clare. B - July 2021
"We stayed at Hendra Cottage for a week, to get away after a manic year in healthcare over the last year.
The service and provisions at Hendra were outstanding. The finish is clean, comfortable, and to an extremely high standard. Everything functions perfectly, including the lovely dutch hot tub, which we enjoyed in moonlight looking over the sea, one evening! It was stunning. The view from Hendra is incredible - it is serene, peaceful and the sea and cliff view has such grandeur! There is a short walk to join the SW coast path very close to the cottage, and there are plenty of public footpaths around! We walked to Sennen Cove from the Cottage one day, and the views from the clifftops on the coastal path were stunning! Thank you so much for giving us the opportunity to have such a relaxing time away!"
