WHERE IT IS

"Tinner's Cottage, St just"

This lovely refurbished cottage has such a wonderful feeling when you walk through the door with so much character, history and style that all blend to create a cosy, relaxing and stylish holiday home. Think Poldark, log fires, stunning beaches and miles of incredible coastal walks many of which can be reached from the doorstep.

Tucked away in an attractive, quiet terrace in the heart of the charming town of St Just, Tinner’s cottage would have originally been a miner’s cottage when this area was the epicentre of the worlds tin mining industry. These days it’s simply the most fantastic spot to enjoy a holiday in an area of outstanding natural beauty where you are surrounded by breathtaking coastline and sleepy villages that time hasn’t yet caught up with.

It's dog friendly and perfect for families being a short drive to the glorious surfing found at Sennen which was recently voted in the top five UK beaches by The Times. For couples it’s a great cottage for a getaway to recharge the batteries and we offer a special 'Just for Two' rate. The ever-popular town of St Just has an array of local shops and pubs and is set less than a mile from the incredible Atlantic coastline. A good tip the fish and chips from Jeremy's in the square are not to be missed!

Tinner’s Cottage itself has comfortable living space across the ground floor leading out to a pretty courtyard garden which is a great place to enjoy a sundowner or BBQ after a day’s activities. Upstairs the master bedroom with gorgeous original wide floorboards and vaulted ceilings is the most relaxing of bedrooms. Across the hall the twin bedroom is decorated in soft pastels and flooded with light. It's a zip and link so can be made up as a king size or two small singles, you choose. The bathroom feels luxurious with all that space and a claw foot bath to soak away in after a day’s surfing.

Built in the early 1840’s the original Miners would have bought their own plot on the street and then built their cottages according to their means. Tinner’s Cottage was definitely the most successful miner on this terrace!

Location

The whole town of St Just is a UNESCO world heritage site and surrounded by wild moors and dramatic coastline. If feeling energetic try exploring the stunning Tinner’s Way running along the coast from Cape Cornwall all the way to St Ives. It’s an ancient route from the Bronze Age and where the tin and copper ore were transported along the way from St Just to Hayle.

St Just is a friendly town that feels lost in time with an array of great local shops, a deli, a butcher, four pubs and a small local supermarket for your everyday needs. Surrounding the town are the most spectacular stretches of coastline and fantastic walks from the doorstep. Sennen with its glorious surfing beach is ten minutes away as is Portheras, a hidden and stunning local’s cove. Travelling further east within twenty minutes you can be in Marazion with its fabulous beach overlooking the famous St Michaels Mount, St Ives, Mousehole and Penzance.

LIVING

Walking in through the hall you enter the spacious open plan living and dining room which in turn leads through the conservatory to the garden. It’s a lovely room to relax in with two comfy leather sofas and super little Victorian working fireplace, perfect for cosy evenings in. For entertainment, there is a small wall mounted flat screen TV and games and books left for you to enjoy. Through the dining area the large conservatory/sun room with doors to the garden is a great spot for planning the day's activities over a morning coffee. There is a large trestle table and chairs, a retro fridge/freezer and plenty of space to hang coats and store wet suits.

COOKING & EATING

The dining area has comfortable seating for four with a round table and chairs and leads through the conservatory into the kitchen. The well-equipped kitchen has everything you need to cook up a feast and more. There is an electric hob and oven, a washer/dryer, dishwasher and a microwave oven.

SLEEPING

There are two comfortable bedrooms on the first floor and there is a bespoke stairgate for little ones and your four-legged friend. The main bedroom overlooks the front garden and is a gorgeous space. There are large fitted wardrobes and a king-size bed with Dorma memory plus mattress. The twin room has zip and link beds so can be made up as a king size or two small singles, you choose. It's a pretty double aspect bedroom which overlooks the rear garden.

BATHING

The stunning bathroom is spacious with original varnished wood floor boards and a stunning freestanding bath and separate shower. You’re on holiday so no rush and enjoy soaking away in the lovely room. Towels and bedding are provided for you, just remember to bring your own beach towels.

outside

You enter the house through a private garden gate into the sweet front garden. At the rear of the cottage is a fully enclosed private courtyard garden with hand-built table and chairs. Its private and a super spot for whiling away the evenings.

What guests are saying...

“Lovely cottage in a brilliant location, within walking distance of the town centre and Cape Cornwall. Recommended!”

Roseanne – April 2022

"Lovely house with all the facilities we needed.  The area is small & quiet, but has a few basic amenities (cafes, post office, few shops, a pub etc) & has a real village-life feel about it. The location is also a great base for driving to other parts of Cornwall - we visited Sennen Cove (frequently for morning & evening walks along the beach), Penzance, Mousehole & St Ives in very good time."
