"Hendra Farmhouse, sennen"

In the most extraordinary location with spectacular views from Cape Cornwall to Land’s End sits Hendra Farmhouse set high above the Atlantic near Sennen Cove.

Inside this beautiful holiday home is a wonderful blend of traditional and contemporary design with stunning sea views from most rooms. This is a special home and you will be unlikely to find many properties in West Cornwall perched above such an awe inspiring stretch of coastline. At Hendra Farmhouse you’ll appreciate an abundance of space, character and of course the amazing views. The house emanates a relaxed confidence that merges the traditional and new with impeccable style.

Enjoy the impressive gardens looking across fields to the ocean. Take your pick of sitting rooms and light a fire curled up in front of a movie. Or after a day enjoying the surf, take yourself off to one of the comfortable bedrooms and drift off to sleep to the distant sound of the sea.

This area is in so many ways untouched by modern life and the far west is much loved for its untamed raw beauty. Hendra Farmhouse takes in so much of what this magical place has to offer. From the crashing waves of the Atlantic, the dramatic cliffs, stretches of golden sand and some of the best surfing in Cornwall, it’s all on the doorstep for you to enjoy a fantastic holiday.

Set on the cliffs above the Cot Valley you are about half way between Cape Cornwall and the wonderful surfing beaches at Sennen and Gwenver. The South West coast path can be accessed in a short walk from the house. If your feeling energetic you can even walk all the way to Sennen which is also only a short drive away. Venturing further the local town of St Just is under ten minutes away. It’s an attractive town and a UNESCO world heritage site due the rich mining history. There are various independent shops, four pubs, two good butchers a deli and a co-op supermarket. Further afield the popular towns of Penzance, St Ives and Mousehole are all easily accessible as well as numerous beaches and coves dotted around West Cornwall.

The house is split between the main farmhouse and the piggery created from various converted farm buildings. In the main farmhouse sitting room there is comfortable seating for eight and a large flat screen TV. Kick back on the sixties inspired sofa and catch a movie, or curl up in front of a roaring fire with your favourite book.
Back through to the piggery and the impressive hall with plenty of storage flows past a side door to the garden to another sitting room where there are two sofas, a snuggle chair and a second woodburner. It’s a special space. Modern and Scandinavian in style there is a large flat screen TV and it’s a great room for a family get together or to watch a movie. Passing the piggery's kitchenette and shower room leads to a double bedroom where you can enjoy breathtaking views from. Its open plan to a spacious sitting area where two low slung armchairs sit facing the large vaulted window. Where better to enjoy sundowner and take in the inspiring views across the Atlantic.

Cooking and Eating

The main kitchen is designed in a classic farmhouse style with slate tiled floor, underfloor heating and of course a range cooker. Perfect for cosy suppers, it has comfortable seating for eight but can fit ten around the dining table which is sat overlooking the gardens and sea. There is fridge freezer, range cooker and dishwasher plus all the equipment you need to cook up a feast. (On that note – if you’d like a special event catered for do ask, we have some superb contacts.) In the extension is a further small kitchen with a two-ring electric hob, microwave and small fridge.

On the first floor of the main farmhouse there are two sea facing bedrooms, (one double, one king sized) both with wardrobes and each with a chest of drawers. A large bedroom facing the drive is a triple with three single beds. The bunk room is also sea facing and perfect for two little ones. (please note this is being refurbished and will be available from late spring so do call to check). Back downstairs to the piggery and there is a ground floor double bedroom set on its own.

On the first floor by the bedrooms in the main house there is a large family bathroom with a separate shower. There are two further shower rooms one in the piggery and the second in the outside utility room which is great for after a days surfing.

Utility Room

The large outside utility room has a Miele washing machine and separate dryer. This is where the third shower room is and its perfect for after a day on the beach although it may get chilly in the colder months!

The lawned gardens are simply stunning and offer breathtaking views along the coastline and out to sea. There is plenty of space to play, soak up the sunshine, and plan the week ahead. There is an outside table and chairs for al fresco meals and a perfectly positioned bench for sitting and soaking up the views.

There are various levels and steps as well as an old covered well in the garden. Children must be supervised by an adult if playing outside.
