We are fascinated by the art of creating amazingly comfortable and exciting living accommodation in minimal spaces.
ARCHAVONstudio was designed by Studio West Architects, the team responsible for the incredibly popular New Forge Cottage. Their brief was to bring a new accommodation concept to the far west, a luxurious space, celebrating light, where not an inch is wasted. Although measuring just 252 metres the studio delivers everything we asked for and more.
Location. A stunning coastline, secret coves and so much more. St Just is the heart of the Tin Coast, the World Heritage site recognised for its mining past that has left us with the many iconic buildings that feature in television films such as Poldark, and the dramatisation of novels by Daphne du Maurier, Roseamund Pilcher. It's an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and has many well preserved ancient sites including whole villages that will fire up the imagination.
This bustling little town on the edge is the last in England. Despite its size it offers everything you need from great butchers, a baker, a good greengrocer, four pubs some offering live music, others offering food.
Living. Light enhances life. The studio brings in as much light as you could hope for thanks to its huge skyspace roof light. In this comfortable one room space you can slide from lounge chair to bed in a couple of steps, yet still feel that there's room to spare.
The German Rotpunkt kitchen incorporates AEG and Neff appliances - a two ring induction hob, and high level combination oven, with a dishwasher to make light of clearing away your feast.
Even what you eat from was given careful consideration - we hope you'll love the dinner ware and cutlery as much as we do.
Sleeping. Wherever you stay the quality of the bed is vital, and at ARCHAVONstudio we think you'll be delighted. After much research we invested in a highly rated Eve mattress with matching pillows. I think Eve will be getting a lot of orders from our guests.
Showering. The shower room is also filled with light and offers enough reflections to check yourself out from every angle.
Outside. The studio has been built in the garden of Archavon, the owner's home. It shares the neat courtyard space with the house where there's plenty of seating to catch the sun through the day.
Parking. There's no dedicated parking, but St Just's free town car park is less than a hundred metres down the road.
Our first five reviews Wow! We're over the moon with the response from our first guests. Here's what they have said:
"Can't thank you enough for your hospitality and preemptive help with maps, information, directions, etc. It felt like we were renting a studio that came equipped with Wikipedia.
This so far has been the best vacation in England, i will highly recommend my friends to pay a visit to St. Just.
The studio was perfect! Enough space to walk around comfortably with pretty much everything you need at hand; good lighting and a lovely look made for a great setup.
Four days is way too short a time to enjoy all of what Cornwall has to offer. Each day was packed with amazing adventures, sights, lovely people, food, beaches, and i could go on for hours.
Thanks again for an unforgettable experience!"
"The studio was even more spectacular than the photographs portrayed, and we felt every bit catered for, with Kelvin even going so far as to provide some essentials in the kitchen.
The annex is architecturally stunning, and a must-stay for design lovers. Saint Just itself has all you need, pubs, bakery, butchers, galleries, supermarkets, etc. and is a perfect location for getting to all the of the surrounding sites of interest by car or by bus, with the stunning Cape Cornwall only a short walk away.
We would definitely stay again and would recommend staying here to anyone who is planning on visiting this beautiful part of the world."
"Absolutely fabulous stay. With a warm welcome and local guide book (hand written) we couldn't have been more at ease. We only wish we had stayed for longer!"
"We had beautifully relaxed stay in St Just and Kelvin is a great host. He is very brushed up on useful info regarding the Cornwall area. He was there for all of our questions/needs and he is very respectful with your space. If we needed anything he was quick to respond. The studio is immaculate and very comfortable and has loads of modern bells and whistles making our stay very pleasant and unique! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend!"
"The studio was one of the best airbnb properties we ever stayed in - it was beautifully furnished, and located right behind the main square of St Just. St Just is a beautiful little village couple of minutes away from some of the best beaches in Cornwall. Villages closer to the coast could be quite crowded especially on a sunny summer day, so we appreciated the quietness of St Just! Finally we cannot thank Kelvin enough for making us feel at home from the minute we arrived, and for all the tips he gave us about Cornwall."
